Potters at Sunderland – Rip Roaring Prediction
by northy on 31/01/10 at 5:04 pm
The potters visit the stadium of light tomorrow night for an extremely rare monday night fixture and we also have the small matter of the transfer window reaching it’s climax at 5pm, stokies will be cramming the messageboards waiting to see if TP can pull one out of the bag, no panic signings please tone, there have been enough of those and the results are there for all to see. Pulis has been looking for players who can make an immediate impact on the season and these players have proved very hard to find or to attract to the britannia stadium. What we have got is enough to see us through so if the right men can’t be found now then leave it to the summer.
As for the game a fair bit was expected of sunderland this season but as yet they seem no better than any of the other teams who sit around us and below in the table. A fair old injury list is hampering their season with the influential cattermole a big miss. I like sunderland, a decent club with a passionate support and i always remember being impressed by the large away followings they brought to the victoria ground back in the day. The mackem old boy list at the potters seems to grow season by season and i’m sure whitehead, collins, lawrence, delap etc etc will all want to be involved in this one. Stoke can get something here no doubt but if we arse about letting sunderland play then expect a beating because they are still a powerful team who are a win away from turning it round, let’s not give them the pleasure of doing it against us. Get stuck in ‘em stoke.

this is a MASSIVE game for sunderland, make no mistake.
for some reason we always seem to struggle against stoke, but after the run sunderland have been on i for one expect them to be well up for this one and come out with all guns blazing. . . .the result will be dependant on two things, one how stoke handle this early onslaught and two, if sunderland can build on their fragile confidence and go from strength to strength in the game . .
IF sunderland get in front i expect them to win maybe 2 or 3 to nil . . IF stoke handle the early pressure and capitalise on sunderlands low confidence i can see a bore draw or disaster of all disasters, a stoke win . . .

it would be a disaster because we would be so close to the relegation zone, and we need a win badly. Its not a case of who is better then anyone else.
